At Xaloc Diving Center, we understand diving as an activity closely linked to the conservation of the marine environment. We operate within the Montgrí Natural Park, the Medes Islands and the Baix Ter, an area of outstanding ecological value that requires responsible management and a genuine commitment from everyone.

For this reason, we integrate sustainability criteria into all our operations, both in the management of the dive center and in our activities at sea.

We hold the ISO 14001 environmental certification, which ensures a management system focused on the continuous improvement of our environmental performance. We are also committed to the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (CETS), working in close collaboration with the Natural Park to promote a responsible tourism model.

Our day-to-day commitment

We apply environmentally responsible practices in all our activities:

* We reduce the impact of our trips by optimizing boat usage and sharing routes with other dive centers whenever possible

* We exclusively use authorized mooring buoys to protect the seabed

* Our boats are equipped with systems to prevent oil spills

* We manage waste responsibly and promote the reduction of plastic use

* We optimize water and energy consumption in our facilities

Responsible diving

Diver behavior underwater is key to protecting the environment. That’s why we:

* Provide eco-briefings before every dive

* Clearly explain the Natural Park regulations

* Promote good buoyancy control and respect for marine life, offering courses in buoyancy, marine ecology, and fish and invertebrate identification

* Do not allow touching, feeding, or disturbing marine life

* Encourage responsible behavior before, during, and after every dive

Conservation and collaboration

We actively contribute to marine conservation:

* We organize and take part in underwater clean-up actions

* We collaborate with other dive centers and local organizations in conservation projects, such as the “Seahorses from l’Estartit” project

* We support initiatives linked to the Natural Park

* We train our team in environmental awareness and best practices: most of our guides and instructors have completed the official Underwater Guide course of the Montgrí Natural Park, Medes Islands and Baix Ter in recent years

A shared commitment

Protecting the sea is everyone’s responsibility. That’s why we involve our clients in this commitment, providing them with the information and tools they need to enjoy diving in a respectful way.

We believe that every dive is an opportunity to discover, appreciate and protect our natural environment.
