With the Specialty Advanced “Gold” course, and in just 6 dives, you’ll combine high-quality training and adventure through a selection of four specialty certifications that will connect you with the extraordinary environment of the Montgrí Natural Park and the Medes Islands.
Who can join this course?
This course is ideal for certified Open Water divers or equivalent (SSI, PADI, CMAS 1*, etc.) who wish to progress in their training and gain a deeper understanding of the marine ecosystems they explore.
The Specialty Advanced “Gold” includes 4 SSI courses:
* Three mandatory courses: Deep Diving, Perfect Buoyancy, and Navigation.
* One course of your choice:Marine Ecology or Nitrox.
The course is divided in 2 main stages:
Throughout these dives, you will enjoy a complete and structured learning experience:
1. Marine Ecology or Nitrox:
If you choose Marine Ecology, you’ll learn about marine habitats and responsible interaction with the flora and fauna of the Montgrí Natural Park and the Medes Islands.
If you go for Nitrox, you’ll discover the benefits of diving with enriched air, such as longer bottom times, and learn the technical considerations involved.
2. Deep Diving:
You’ll descend to depths of up to 40 meters while practicing advanced techniques, such as compass navigation, controlled descents and ascents, and emergency decompression procedures.
3. Navigation:
You’ll refine your observation skills and learn to use the compass more precisely, allowing you to navigate underwater with confidence and accuracy.
4. Perfect Buoyancy:
You’ll improve your trim, balance and movement underwater, reducing your impact on the marine environment while increasing your efficiency and comfort during every dive.
You’ll complete the academic portion online through the SSI digital system, accessing interactive manuals and completing the required assessments and final exams for each specialty.
The format is flexible and adapts completely to your schedule.

* Digital learning materials.
* 6 Open Water Dives with a SSI certified instructor.
* Four official SSI Specialty certifications.
- Duration: 3 days
* You can complete the course on consecutive days,
* or personalise the schedule according to your availability.
**Important: When booking, please indicate whether you prefer consecutive days or a customised calendar.
- What to bring: Your own diving equipment.
- Equipment rental: If needed, the full rental cost is €20.
- Diving locations: Five dives along the Montgrí coastline and at least one dive in the Medes Islands Marine Reserve—two of the Mediterranean’s most iconic diving areas for their biodiversity and underwater landscapes.
- Mandatory requirements:
* Medical form: If the form is clear, no medical certificate is required. Otherwise, a certificate will be necessary.
* Valid diving accident insurance: Available at Xaloc (€42 annually or € 8 daily).
- Family-friendly: This course is perfect for families with children aged 16 and older, offering a unique experience to share together underwater.
- Who will train you?: A certified instructor holding the official diving guide certification of the Montgrí Natural Park, the Medes Islands, and the Baix Ter—guaranteeing safe, rigorous and high-quality training.
