In Xaloc, we have made an effort in recent years to adapt environmental systems as well as to create a business awareness and in our staff.

We have implemented ISO 14001 , making ourselves more responsible in managing resources and waste, reducing negative environmental impacts within our activity.
We adhere to the CETS (European Charter for Sustainable Tourism) , which distinguishes those companies that strive to make their activity sustainable. This recognition is much more than a quality mark, because it guarantees an authentic collaboration between the company and the Natural Park in the development of sustainable tourism.

DECALOGUE OF THE RESPONSIBLE DIVER

Be an expert on buoyancy
Underwater flora and fauna is more fragile than it seems. Contact with a fin, hit with a camera or a simple touch can destroy decades of coral growth, damage a plant or injure an animal. Get a streamlined profile with your scuba gear and photography, keep your diving skills up to date, hone your techniques as an underwater photographer, and never give up your training to master your skills. You must be aware at all times of your body, diving equipment and photography to avoid contact with the natural environment.

Be a role model
Every day, new divers complete their training and certifications. Regardless of your experience level, be sure to set a good example when interacting with your surroundings, both in the water and on land.

Take only perfect photos and leave only a trace of bubbles
Almost all the natural elements that you can find underwater are alive or are necessary for a living organism. If you take a coral, shell or animal, you can disturb the delicate balance and contribute to the plundering of dive sites without the possibility of the next generations to enjoy them.

Protect underwater life
Make the decision not to touch, feed, handle, chase or climb any organism underwater. Your actions can make the animal nervous, disrupt its feeding or reproductive behavior, or cause aggressive behavior. Understand and respect underwater life and comply with all local laws and regulations.

Be an advocate for the elimination of waste
Huge amounts of waste reach the seas and oceans, reaching even the most remote areas. Once there, they can kill wildlife, destroy entire habitats, and threaten our health and economy. Don't let your dives go to waste. On each dive, collect and inform the authorities of all the things that should not be in the water. Make an effort to buy organic, local products and, if possible, in smaller quantities.

Be responsible when consuming seafood.
Overexploitation of fish is depleting the population of certain species, while destructive practices damage and pollute underwater ecosystems. As a consumer, you have a fundamental role. If you choose to include fish or shellfish in your diet, make sure they are species that are not threatened and encourage others, including restaurants and fishmongers, to do the same.

Do not stand idly by
Divers are some of the most staunch defenders of the oceans in the world. Now more than ever, divers like you are standing up. Speak out about conservation, share your underwater photos, inform the authorities of damage or environmental hazards and defend change.

Be an eco-tourist
Make informed decisions when choosing or visiting a destination. Lean towards facilities dedicated to responsible business practices from a social and environmental point of view; These should include conserving water, reducing energy consumption, properly disposing of waste, using mooring buoys, and respecting local laws, regulations and practices.

Reduce your ecological impact
Global warming and acidification of the oceans pose a risk to your favorite animals and the underwater world in general. Contribute your grain of sand by understanding and reducing your impact on the environment; Also, look for ways to compensate for footprints you can't reduce.

Don't forget to contribute
Protecting the oceans depends on all of our actions, from the most insignificant to the most crucial. Investing in the ocean protects our planet and allows the diving adventure to continue. Contribute through donations or fundraising campaigns for ocean protection, so that the projects, actions and legislative changes necessary to guarantee clean and healthy waters are viable
