THE ILLES MEDES & THE MONTGRÍ NATURAL PARK
The Illes Medes and the Montgrí Natural Park covers a land area of 15,209.8 acres and amarine protected area of 5,033.5 acres.
The area has different degrees of protection that are regulated by 2 nature parks (marine for the Medes Islands and terrestrial for Baix Ter); there is a nature reservation for the area of the Medes Islands due to their high environmental value and peripheral protection for marine life surrounding the Medes Islands Natural park.
The Medes Islands are the highlight of the Natural park. This small archipielago formed by 7 small islands is found only 1 mile from L'Estartit, where the Xaloc Diving Center is settled. The Medes islands are one of the most important marine reservations in the Mediterranean attracting thousands of visitors every year.
The protected zone of Montgrí Coast is full of cliffs and small secluded bays. It offers dives for all levels: small isles, caves, caverns, wrecks, etc.. Marine life is recovering quickly and surprises us in every dive. Beginners will enjoy their courses here (as it is forbidden to do any course in the Medes Islands), and many qualified divers will enjoy many of our dives, especially diving in our wrecks or tunnels.
All our dives are done by boat.
