The Marine Ecology course is a general marine biology course, but in our dives we dedicate especially to our environment: the Costa del Montgrí area and the Medas Islands Marine Reserve.
Why? Because when you learn more about underwater ecology, and about aquatic animal and plant habitats, you will observe behaviors and see creatures that may have gone unnoticed before… and this makes you learn more about our local ecosystem.

Who can take this course?

The SSI Marine Ecology courses are perfect for those Open Water divers or equivalent (SSI, PADI, ACUC, CMAS 1 *, etc.) who want to continue advancing in their training as a diver.
The requirements to access this course are:
– Have the aforementioned qualification
– Logbook (in digital or paper format)
– Be at least 10 years old
– You must fill out a medical form (if this is correct, you do not need a medical certificate, but If any contraindication to diving appears, then it will be mandatory to provide a medical certificate of aptitude for diving)
– Diving accident insurance in force (in the same way, if you do not have one you can hire one directly in Xaloc, cost: € 40 for annual insurance or a daily insurance at € 6 / day)

A) Practice: 2 dives

The first of them is outside the Marine Reserve, in the Costa del Montgrí area, here we will work on buoyancy and also the species found here and the second is already in the Medes Islands, where we will also observe, through responsible interactions , aquatic life.

B) Theory

You should read the topics related to the course you are going to take, and complete the evaluations and the final exam of the course.
The system used is online, that is, the SSI digital system – to start immediately. Each person studies at their own pace, through an interactive and easy-to-use program. You have access to the online version of the manual and you can complete the theoretical part of the course in this way.

The price: is per person
Method of payment: a deposit of € 50 must be made by transfer or credit card and the rest will be paid in cash at our Diving Center
Participants: minimum 1 person
Available days: every day of the week
Duration: minimum 1 day, but it is personalized depending on the availability of the diver.
What should you bring: complete diving equipment (except cylinders and weights)
Rental  diving equipment: complete diving equipment’s rental is not included in the price.Should you need to rent it, the total price is 20 €
Where will the course dives be done?: Inside the Illes Medes and Montgrí Natural Park. Specifically, one of them in areas of the Costa del Montgrí and the other in areas of the Medas Islands
Who will train you?: An instructor with official title of underwater guide of the Natural Park of the Medas Islands, Montgrí and Baix Ter
Mandatory: You must fill out the Medical Form and / or bring your medical certificate of aptitude for diving + you must have your own diving insurance (if you do not have one, you can contract one with us, € 6 / day)
Additional information: The dates of the dives by phone or by email in advance
