Side mount diving gives you flexibility and options to achieve a hydrodynamic position . Plus, you won’t have to walk around with the heavy bottles on your back – just jump into the water, hook them up, and you’re done.

Who can take this course?
The SSI Sidemount Diver courses are perfect for those SSI Open Water divers or equivalent (PADI, ACUC, CMAS 1 *, etc.) who want to continue advancing in their training as a diver.
The requirements to access this course are:
– Have the aforementioned qualification
– Logbook
– Be at least 15 years old
– You must fill out a medical form (if this is correct, you do not need a medical certificate, but if there is any contraindication to diving, then Yes, it will be mandatory to provide a medical certificate of aptitude for diving)
– Diving accident insurance in force (in the same way, if you do not have one you can hire one directly in Xaloc, cost: € 40 for annual insurance or a daily insurance at € 6 / day)

A)  1 practice in the pool and 3 dives in the sea

In addition to learning the many benefits of diving with a side mount configuration, during one confined water dive and three open water dives you will learn how to:
– Assemble and configure the sidemount diving equipment correctly.
– Adjust your ballast system and your sidemount equipment so that you are perfectly balanced in the water.
– Manage gas by changing the second stages as planned, if two bottles are carried.
– Respond correctly to possible problems diving with sidemount.

B) Theory

You should read the topics related to the course you are going to take, and complete the evaluations and the final exam of the course.
The system used is online, that is, the SSI digital system – to start immediately. Each person studies at their own pace, through an interactive and easy-to-use program. You have access to the online version of the manual and you can complete the theoretical part of the course in this way.

Duration: minimum 2 days, but It is customized according to the diver’s availability.
What should I bring: Your diving suit and booties / fins / mask
Is the rental of the sidemount equipment included?: Yes, the use of side-mounted cylinders, the use of full regulators and the use of the sidemount BC are included
Where will the course dives take place?: Within the Illes Medes and Montgrí Natural Park, specifically in areas of the Costa del Montgrí.
Who will train you?: All Xaloc instructors are recreational diving professionals and have extensive pedagogical experience. And some of us are even Trainers, that is, we train Dive Instructors.
Mandatory: You must fill out the Medical Form and / or bring your medical certificate of aptitude for diving + you must have your own diving insurance (if you do not have one, you can contract one with us, € 6 / day)
