Whether it’s a ship purposely sunk to serve as an artificial reef for divers, or a ship sunk as a result of an accident, wrecks are fascinating windows into the past . Ships, planes, and even cars are fascinating to explore and are usually teeming with aquatic life. Each dive into a wreck offers an opportunity to discover , possibly decipher a mystery or spy on something that others have lost. The SSI Wreck Diver Specialty course is very popular because it offers rewarding adventures.

Who can take this course?
SSI Wreck Diver courses are perfect for those SSI Open Water + Deep divers or equivalent (PADI, ACUC, CMAS, etc.) who want to continue advancing in their training as a diver.
The requirements to access this course are:
– Have the OW qualification
– Have a Deep Diving qualification (or do the combined course of Diving in Sunken Ships + Deep Diving)
– Logbook
– Be at least 15 years old
– You must fill out a form Medical (if this is correct, a medical certificate is not required, but if there is a contraindication to diving, then it will be mandatory to provide a medical certificate of aptitude for diving)
– Diving accident insurance in force (in the same way, if you do not have one you can hire one directly in Xaloc, cost: € 40 for annual insurance or a daily insurance at € 6 / day)

Description

The SSI Wreck specialty course has of two parts:

A) Practice: 2 dives

There are many different types of wrecks, some of which are protected by laws that preserve their historical and cultural significance. Your training begins by reviewing the guidelines for exploring and respecting wrecks.

During the dives, you will learn:
– Safety considerations for navigating and exploring wrecks.
– Techniques to avoid removing the sediment or spoiling the wreck and disturbing its inhabitants.
– To dive in restricted environments

B) Theory

You should read the topics related to the course you are going to take, and complete the evaluations and the final exam of the course.
The system used is online, that is, the SSI digital system – to start immediately. Each person studies at their own pace, through an interactive and easy-to-use program. You have access to the online version of the manual and you can complete the theoretical part of the course in this way.

GOOD TO KNOW:

The price: is per person
Payment method: € 50 at the time of booking by bank transfer and the rest will be paid on the first day of the course
Participants: minimum 1 person
Days available: one or two days per week, depending on the Diving Center’s planning
Duration: minimum 2 days, but it is customized depending on the availability of the diver
What you should bring: complete diving equipment (except cylinders and weights)
Rental  diving equipment: complete diving equipment’s rental is not included in the price.Should you need to rent it, the total price is 20 €
Penetration in wrecks: This course does not train or empower you to do penetrations in wrecks. For that we have the Advanced Wreck Diver course
Where will the course dives take place?: Within the Illes Medes and Montgrí Natural Park, specifically in the “Reggio” which is on the Montgrí Coast
Who will train you?: All Xaloc instructors are recreational diving professionals and have extensive pedagogical experience. And some of us are even Trainers, that is, we train Dive Instructors.
Mandatory: You must fill out the Medical Form and / or bring your medical certificate of aptitude for diving + you must have your own diving insurance (if you do not have one, you can contract one with us, € 6 / day)
